Coming from a half Japanese background, Nick Suzuki has always prided himself on representing his Asian culture and heritage while on ice. A source of motivation that hits even closer to home for Suzuki comes from his brother, Ryan, who is two years younger and was drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2019 NHL Draft. Despite both having insane hockey skills and talent for their entire lives, the Suzuki brothers understand that there aren’t many Japanese hockey players in the NHL and use their platforms in a conscious effort to spur inspiration for those looking up to them.
